a bit about Kate

director | writer | photographer

Kate is a freelance filmmaker currently based in Brisbane. Having immersed herself in the craft of filmmaking for fifteen years, Kate is fuelled by the elation, insight and catharsis that strong storytelling can ignite. Her early study and professional practice in music and photography gives her insight when creating depth and detail in every frame, and fierce precision in every beat, sound and silence.

Warm and spirited, Kate is a natural at connecting with people from all walks of life, and always makes cast and crew feel at ease. Her experience as a director is wide and varied – from historic World War I recreations for the ANZAC Centenary (QLD Government) to large scale installation video art commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria (for visual artist Hannah Brontë). She has directed and developed television commercials, music videos, short form documentary and screen content for many clients including GOMA, The Commonwealth Games, Virgin Australia, RACQ, Blue Care, University of Queensland, The Department of Heritage and Protection, Wesley Mission, TransLink, Brisbane Marketing, Queensland University of Technology and many more.
